Obituary for Dee Parker

Funeral services for Dee Parker 97, of Brownsboro have been scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday July 30, 2020 at Leagueville Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Bragdon officiating under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
Burial will follow at Leagueville Cemetery.
Dee was born February 20, 1923 In Gunnison, Colorado to the late William Scott and Florence Lehman Yoder. Dolores Jean Yoder grew up in Gunnison, Colorado and at the age of 18, she met her future husband, Tim Parker, through his work with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Colorado. They were married on June 13, 1942. Dee always had a passion for children and worked as an aide at Central High School in Moore Station, Texas for several years, and later as an aide at Brownsboro ISD.
Dee was a long-time member of Leagueville Baptist Church, working as the church clerk, teaching Sunday School for 35 years, singing in the choir, and providing delicious meals for any and every event she was a part of. Dee, often affectionately known as “Granny” was loved tremendously by her family, many of whom she played a large role in raising selflessly over the years. Her contagious joy and love for people will forever be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Tim Parker, son; Trent Parker, daughter-in-law; Jean Parker, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include her daughter Judy Bragg and husband Eddy of Brownsboro, son; Chris Parker and wife Charlene of Arlington, grandchildren; Lance Owen and wife Connie of Brownsboro, Jason Parker and wife Emily of Edom, Staci Smith of Brownsboro, Brooke Surlet and husband John of Brownsboro, Jade Parker of Tyler, Bryan Parker and wife Ginny of Frisco, Lisa Starr and husband Clay of Arlington, great-grandchildren; Alison Bien and husband Jordon, Parker Owen and wife Sariah, Tyler Parker, Madison Mullins and husband Dallas, Timothy Smith, Chandler Taylor, Owen Taylor, Noah Parker, Addi Parker, Libby Parker, Levi Parker, Ethan Starr and Rachel Starr, great-great grandchild; Dallas Mullins, and best friends Dot and Derl Adair.
Pallbearers are Lance Owen, Parker Owen, Jason Parker, Jordon Bien, Tyler Parker, Bryan Parker and Clay Starr.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Kindergarten Classes of 1971 and 1972 of Brownsboro ISD.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday afternoon from 2-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family requests everyone that plans to attend the visitation and service please wear a mask or facial covering.
